Process

My time living in a country that I could not speak the language in, taught me the skill of observation. There is a whole level of communication that happens visually between us. Its in these moments of observation that I learn about a business, its people, its products and the user experience. The goal of observation is to look for what is missing and for unmet needs.
This is by far my favorite part of my process. I research the potential users, their background, their geography and personality. I research what has been done and what is missing in the process. I ask questions. I get to know who I am designing for (both client and user).
I look for the common denominator between , a pattern that connects everything together. Once I find the pattern and connecting point then I am ready to move forward with concepts.
I build visuals and test my ideas with the client to make sure we are both on the same page. Many times this takes the form of moodboards or sketches.
Once I have a clear understanding of the direction I am headed with the design or content, I take a step back and decide if this project fits my design aesthetics or should I bring in a team to help diversity and flavor to the project. Ultimately I always vote team. I believe the best ideas come from many.

There is a lot that truly goes into one person. Take upbringing, our ethnicity, geography, life impacts, inspiration and personalities. All this comes together in one great “Origin” Story of the person.

I am an Imagineer (Thanks Disney for the term). I truly see endless possibilities around us and at all times. These possibilities take shape into ideas around products or visual concepts. I build it in my head, how I would package it and play with it - until I reach the point of its launch.

I am an ever - reinventor of systems and designs, playful child at heart, designer enthusiast, visual story teller, collector of old furniture and compulsive hobby starter.
